Top 10 Ways You Know You're a Blogger If..
1.) You won't leave the house without your camera, or better yet, it's attached to you at all times. You never know when you will find inspiration.
2.) You have the thought at least once a day, "Oh that would make a great blog post!"
3.) You keep notes on your desk, stuck to your monitor, or in a file on "Future Blog Post Topics."
4.) You love to read other Blogs. If you're a writer, chances are that you're also a reader, they go hand in hand.
5.) You've been kept awake at least one night because you have a hot idea for a blog post or you're struggling with the perfect Blog Title, or you have gotten up way too early to write for your Blog.
6.) Blogs are a major source for your news - why bother with TV and newspapers when there are so many quality blogs?
7.) You know what it is to "Reblog" and you either love it or you hate it.
8.) You've made real-life friends, clients or business associates with people who comment on your blogs, or by commenting on their blogs.
9.) You've spent at least one Friday or Saturday night home blogging instead of going out.
10.) You can easily use the terms "Blogosphere" "Trackbacks" "Permalink" "RSS Feed" and "Blog Roll" in a sentence.

I've achieved a new sense of freedom since I'm now able to leave the house without my camera. Heck, I even left it home on Sunday when we went to a cheer competition and my own girls were competing. LOL But maybe that can be attributed to getting old and becoming forgetful. =)
Ok then I guess Im a blogger. Im not as creative as some but I blog away anyhow. Aren't Saturdays nights for blogging?
Maggie - I've done that myself - more than once! I guess that's why they put camera's in our phones these days :)
Laura - I think you're right, Saturday nights can be great for blogging. Especially at our house when the Teen is out.
That's very funny! But true. I'd bet there are lots of camera-carrying, Saturday-night-staying-home bloggers out there nodding their heads in agreement.
Thanks Rich, glad to hear we're not the only ones.
I am guilty of ALL 10!! LOL!! #2 stands out most for me. When I first started my blog here my "blog mind" was moving at 100 mph and there were many times during the day when I thought "OOOOh I have to blog about that!!". It has slowed down a little but, but it is still there... Good post, thanks!
Kevin & Monica, this is chilling that you can strike so many nerves with one innocent blog post!! I too, am guilty of all 10 and loving it! Splish splash in the Rain!!
Great posts. I am probably guilty of all those 10 things.
If your list is accurate, then I believe I've caught the Blogger Bug!
Kevin and Monica, I guess that I am sort-of a blogger. I don't do everything on your top 10 list, so I am not completely addicted yet, ha ha.
We love a good Top 10 list and this one certainly doesn't dissapoint. Great presentation here :)
Kevin and Monica,
I was starting to believe that I was not a blogger but your post (especially items 1 and 4 or your list) proved me wrong. If it is OK, I would like to make a link to this post in the first of a series of posts I intend to do on the topic of blogging on AR and how to achieve a good balance between making posts and entering comments on other member's posts (item 5 applied to me as the idea came). Great top 10 list!
Great!! Oh, and you forgot another term "BLOG-O-HOLIC". That's me!
Spoken like a true blogger...nice post! How about when you schedule an appointment to blog on your pda?
Kevin and Monica - oh yes, I can identify with all of these...the lack of sleep, being pbessive, having my camera (and now video camera too) as a third arm. Thanks for an enjoyable read.
Jeff
11. You cannot look at a local newspaper without marking stories for future blog entries! :)
Yup. That's me alright! Have you ever woke up at 3am to get a glass of water and wrote down a blog topic idea? I have!
1. yes 2. yes 3. yes 4. yes 5. yes 6. yes 7. yes 8. yes! 9. yes!! 10 yes.
I now know my addiction and am seeking professional help.
oh my that was me today running around with my camera..you mean I am not the only one...I am not insane..I am a blogger....oh you made me feel so much better :0)
helpfulhannah from philadelphia
I still dont use the camera...one day I will spice it up!
hi Kevin/Monica, oh gawd I see myself in too many of the 10 signs, gotta get the t shirt, now it's official. ;-)
Wow, great top ten. I'm sure you could probably find more to add to the list. I use the notepad in my Blackberry to jot down blogging ideas when I'm out and about. And now that I "have camera - will travel" I have even learned to love winter. Bonus.
OMG! It's so true. I can't leave the house without my camera and I'm always thinking of a new blog idea. I gotta lighten up! Anothe way to know you're a blogger...Instead of telling people to visit your website, you're telling them to visit your Blog and then explaining what a blog is!
Kevin and Monica...thank you for a perfect explanation...He (my partner) thought that I am a little nutty with all this blogging, computer time, notes around my desk, and sometimes not cognitive when he talks to me or with my 'cameraholicness'...now he knows that I am not loosing it I am just a 'simple blogger' ... LOL
With smiles,
Bo
Ooops! Busted...I admit I am a Blogaholic! I even think that while I was on vacation I developed a severe case of Blogitus! But with heavy doses of blogging and reading and commenting I am starting to feel much better!
:o)
If you forget your camera, there's always clipart!
GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS!
I am afflicted. Don't forget the IPhones and Blackberries have decent cameras if you forget your real camera. And I subscribe to Colleen Lane's new # 11 as well. But I haven't gone to the dark side with # 9 & 10 yet.
Monica....
GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY, AND GUILTY!
11.) You can obsess over a blank page for hours and hours.
12.) You always have dictionary.com open in a browser.
13.) You stress over the fact that if anyone else in the world wrote on the topic, maybe you shouldn't.
14.) With only a few sentences to go, you can spend another 3 hours.
15.) Once you get going you spend 80% your time chopping stuff out.
Fun post... thx... RF
Hello Kevin and Monica, I am a new blogger I don't know if I should consider myself one. I am not a good writer, but started keeping my camera with me everywhere I go, in case I see something that I can use for a future blog. I also noticed that keep notes on my desk and when I can sleep, I write ideas for a blog post. Good analysis
I've been blogging for only about 2 weeks and I think I'm already up to about 8 out of 10!
I laughed so hard at #1, as yesterday I left without my camera but remembered quickly enough that I went home & got it.
11. You write blog entries in advance and save them for the future.
What a hoot! My first week as a serious blogger I was up to #9. I'm still unfamiliar with a few of the terms under #10, so I see I'm not quite there yet. It's only a matter of time.
Kevin & Monica - Great post! I guess I'm not a full fledged blogger yet because only about half of your list could be applied to me and guess what? I'm perfectly ok with that.
While I have enjoyed becoming more knowledgeable about the whole blogging experience and educated on how to use it to help me grow my business, getting out and away from my computer and talking to real life prospects and clients every single day is more important (and hopefully always will be) to me and the growth of my business.
#10 is really funny. I can't, yet. Great post!
Kevin & Monica - I'm guilty of a few of these, though I blog in waves. Some weeks more than others. I guess you could consider me a quasi-blogger.
Wow, I was out of the office all afternoon yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with all of the feedback from the post. I was just hoping people didn't think we were crazy but I see there are lots of fellow "blogaholics" out there.
Thank you for all your comments - they are making me smile this morning.
Gerry - of course you can "reblog" our post and yes James - I have written down blogging ideas when I get up in the middle of the night. I'm glad you understand. :)
Have a great day and keep blogging!
If there were a "Blogger's Anonymous, I may have to sign up!"
I am definitely a blogger- camera always in hand for sure, lists of blog topics, and lots of reading!
Hi Liz - we would too!
Hi Sharon - it must be working, keep it up!
I love top ten lists, especially ones so easily relatable.
I love top ten lists, especially ones so easily relatable.
Thanks Kevin and Monica--
Very fun post. I recognize myself in more and more of those categories. One suggestion for couples out there... if your mate doesn't get it, introduce them to a blog on a hobby of theirs. See if they don't catch the bug themselves!
OK I admit it I am a blogger. Now what are the other 9 steps to recovery?
OK. what is a Blog Roll? That one is the only one I didn't know?
I could admit to about 8 1/2 of them. Never understood what the whole repost thing was about and then the only term I use in #10 is blogosphere.
By George, I think I'm a blogger. Thanks for sharing. I can surely understand the Friday night thing about being home blogging every once in a while. This stuff is quite addictive.
Wow! I am not that hardcore yet but I'm probably well on my way!
Thanks Karl.
Tamara - that's a great idea, everyone should have something to blog about.
Josef - I don't know - let us know if you find them!
Hi Winter - Blogroll is a Wordpress term used for "Links"
Jennifer - close enough, I think you're a blogger.
Cedric - that's great, it is addictive, in a good way :)
Tony & Libby - you'll get there just stick with it.
This is an excellent post! Made me truly laugh out loud! And so true for me...and several of my blogging friends...LOL
Kevin and Monica - you forgot
when you wake up in the middle of the night with a blog idea
and
when you dream about a blog post.
You got me on number one and I can say yes to all 10.
I use to have a panic attack if I left the house without a camera - digital, panoramic, digital SLR, video, pick one or multiple ;) and I realized that I always have my cell phones, yes I have multiple phones so I can keep business and personal separate and of course there's the iPhone, with me and all can take photos and two can take video so I am always good to go.
Thanks for the post.
Catherine in NY
Thanks Jan and thanks for the reblog :)
Hi Sharon - I've done those things also, add them to the list!
Hi Catherine - I left without my camera the other day and had the same thing happen, I just knew I was going to miss the perfect shot.
Great top ten list -- have to admit I ift most of them and several that were in the responses! Regarding #1, I've discovered that my iphone takes a decent photo for the times I forget the camera!
Stephen Graham's #11 made me laugh...I am actually doing that! I am new to Active Rain and new to blogging. I have LEARNED ALOT and had alot of fun!
