We just returned from RE Bar Camp in Seattle at 2:00 a.m. this morning and are still psyched about the event. We also attended the Bloodhound Event on Thursday afternoon.
Someone described RE Bar as a
"Spontaneous, Eclectic Event of people who are passionate about what they know and are willing to share freely with those that are hungry to know."
That is definitely the case. We were able to meet a lot of fellow Active Rainers and learned about Blogging, Social Media Marketing, SEO, and Websites from the top in the business.
Some of the Speakers included:
- Jim Marks from Virtual Results,
- Drew Meyers, Rich Barton, David Gibbons, and Stan from Zillow,
- A Debate between Greg Swann of Bloodhound Blogs and Glenn Kelman from Redfin, (More on this later)
- Mike Simonsen and Scott Sambucci from Altos Research,
- Greg Swann and Brian Brady from Bloodhound Blogs, and
- Rich Jacobson and Brad Andersohn from Active Rain, and a panel of top bloggers - Marlow Harris, Rhonda Porter, and Brad Coy.
Needless to say from the list of presenters, there was a lot of brain power in the building! We left with so many new ideas, it's hard to decide which one to start on first.
And, thanks to being on ActiveRain for the past two years, we also felt like we're on the right track with our marketing plan and that we have the basics in place. Now we're ready to apply these new tools to expand our online presence.
The event was held at Zillow headquarters in downtown Seattle with breathtaking views of the Sound and the skyline.
People are still Twittering about the event at #REBCSEA.
Thank you to everyone who helped put this event together, to ActiveRain for sponsoring, the speakers, and for Zillow for the perfect meeting space.

I love ReBar camps, I love the interaction, the spontanaty. I knew the one in Seattle would rock.
I really enjoyed being at this, it was a great opportunity. I learned so much and met a ton of new people.

Kevin & Monica: It was AWESOME having you guys there! Thanks for coming all the way out to participate!
Hi Monica and Kevin, I remember seeing you but didn't have the chance to exchange ideas or business cards. Glad you made the trek all the way to Seattle for this.matas
REBarCamps are so awesome and filled with incredible information. I wish I could have been in Seattle!

Hi Missy - this was our first camp but we hope to attend future events.
Josh and Sonny - sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you in person but it's good to see you on AR.
Rich - Thank You so much, it was great to meet you and I loved you session on the 7 Habits of Effective Blogging.
Tina - Sounds like you've been to some of the others, this was our first one but it was excellent.
Kevin and Monica- I was at the one in New York. There's an amazing wealth of information shared at these events. I'm sure it was awesome.
This was the most interesting event I've ever been to. Creating your own classes on the spot!? However, using this technique allowed everyone a chance to be a part of their chosen topic. Creating your own space and driving your own chair from place to place!?--fun. I expected more "entry level" people to be there and was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of geeks in the audience. I learned a lot from the intelligent interactions that were taking place. The idea that the all day event was FREE was a treat in itself, but to serve lunch too was over the top. I believe there was a turnout of about 200. This event gave me a jump start into my Internet networking. THANK YOU Zillow. Until the next one...
I missed the chance to say hi to you yesterday. I am so sorry I didn't get that chance!
I took loads of notes... I think I may just list them out here on AR for all to see what I thought was interesting and important.
And I am going to the Portland Oregon REBarCamp in April. I want to see how for I have come. This is a market for renewal and a chance to find amazing energy and ideas.
I was supposed to go and my Mom was admitted to the hospital, so I missed it :( I knew it would be fantastic! I'm SO jealous, lol. Thanks for sharing the great pictures with all of us :)
Kevin and Monica -From the conversations looks like everyone had a wonderful time. It is my goal to attend one. Like Elizabeth there were other issues to deal with at this time.

Hi Kim - I agree, the relaxed structure is much more fun and rewarding.
