Has anyone used the website Walkscore - www.walkscore.com? It's a way to identify a unique feature of your listings - walkability. It rates how close your listing is to grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, parks, schools, and more. It also shows where these places are on a map. Scores range from 0-100.
They also offer a free tool for your website. A great way to promote "Going Green" in real estate.
What is your listing's Walkscore?
Many of our listings are rural but one that we just sold scored a 68 out of 100.

No, but I will check it out.
Thanks!
Hi Kevin and Monica - this is a great tool! I did not know about it. My neighborhood scores a 69!
This will be very useful for people searching for a site for a LEED project. A project can get points for proximity to community resources and transit. Thanks for the post!
This is a great tool... I will have to check it out!
Thanks for sharing it with the A/R community.

Hmmm- a kind of LEED scoring for neighborhoods! I like it. I will definitely play with it and see if anyone I know can use it. Maybe I will even post it to my newsletter- my clients love these kinds of things.
My home scored a 68 too :) One of the reasons I purchased it is because of the walk factor... lol guess the scorer works.
Except... it gave a Zero to a listing that is in a neighborhood that has its own lakes and parks... just noting that shows up on a google search.
This is a great tool for those in larger cities. I'm sure that the scores for a lot of our neighborhoods wouldn't be too appealing :) I still like the tool, though.
Thanks for sharing this unique and useful webiste! What a great idea for agents with listings in the city areas or downtown areas!

Hi Kevin and Monica,
This is a great tool. Our home scored a 63. Some of my listings are scoring well, some are not. But the buyers looking for those homes, seem to appreciate the 'seclusion.'
Like any tool, use it where it works, and don't try it where it doesn't work! Thanks!
I believe that walk score is cool, but nowadays more and more people drive cars.
Homes are often located in an area where some establishments are easier to get to by car than on foot. I've recently found a type of service on http://drivescore.fizber.com/. It is called Drive Score.
It shows a map of what establishments are in your neighborhood and calculates
a Drive Score based on the number of places within a convenient driving distance.
